Thank you for the memory of Wellington as a sanctuary church more than 40 years ago. Wellington was in fact the second church in the nation to declare sanctuary (the first was an Arizona church, yes). Thank you also for the memory of Michael--we joined Wellington at the same time. He was a brave, gentle, and wonderful man.

Every year there is a new challenge ... and a new opportunity to create a sanctuary with a community of true believers. Sometimes a community finds the courage to create a sanctuary, and sometimes the sanctuary creates and builds the community. What you story points out is that, in the case of Wellington, the sanctuary attracted the believers (in that case, us).
